Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities concluded he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The ex-president was sentenced of planning a military coup in September and sentenced more than 27 years in incarceration, but he was staying under home detention pending legal challenges.

Details of Guilty Verdict

He was also banned from running for public office until twenty-sixty - eight years after the end of his sentence.

The former president called the court case a "witch hunt and said it was aimed at blocking him running in the 2026 national vote.
